Re: Are the makers of “Revolution” Republican?

    The blog posted
a map of the 6 republics that have emerged controlling what was the US,
and I wonder how these 6 large areas organized to make themselves.
    From
what I read of the map, the Monroe Republic would have a second lowest
population density, compared to the others, since starving hordes from
the cities would have killed each other and ate the land bare in almost
all of the lowland areas. The Georgia Federation would be in a similar
    condition.

I would guess that the Monroe Republic started in the
foothills of the Appalachians. There are valleys located there where
food could be grown and which could be easily defended from the starving
hordes with strategic firebases. From there, Monroe expanded to the
mostly empty lowlands west towards Chicago. Monroe also claims the
northeastern U.S., but his presence there, if any, would be confined to a
    few outposts.

By contrast, the Plains Nation would have the
largest population and the highest population density, simply due to so
much food being grown there. The only death zones in the Plains
territory would be around the Twin Cities in Minnesota and St. Louis,
Missouri, which would have been quickly resettled in the next fifteen
years. I would guess that the pre-Blackout state governments within the
Plains Nation’s territory had formed the Plains Nation’s central
    government.

The current incarnation of Texas presumably grew
from a remnant of its pre-Blackout state government and its National
Guard that had been headquartered in the western part of the state. The
eastern part of Texas, around Dallas and Houston, would have been a
    death zone.

The centers of survival in the California
Commonwealth would be along the Pacific coast northward from Eureka, and
the ranch country the east side of the Cascades and the Sierra Nevada.

But is the Conch Republic around?

Since Canada’s ignored by the writers, heres what I think:

I suspect most of Canada is similar to the Land Beyond the Wall from George R.R. Martins a Song of Ice and Fire series, with the Inhabitants being best described as the Wildings from said series, and the Inuit from our own world. During the Early days, many Canadians south into the United States to escape the approaching winter, causing a SECOND population crash in the Northern United States, and the Canadian survivors who survived even this, became the serfs for the various Republics. There’s also a Icelander (they did better than most after the event) settlement in New Foundland, and the Haida regularly raid Californian Settlements in the area, sometimes even joined by Wildlings in the area.

The American Presence in Canada is really nothing but the Republics controlling a handful of Forts in the area; and nothing else. The Wildlings, Inuit, Haida, and Vikings regularly sack and wipe out these forts with ease.

What’s up with the Wasteland? Mormons would have been the most likely to have enough food storage and civility (well, at least enough food storage) to survive the Blackout. They settled Nevada, Idaho and Arizona in the first place. They turned the Salt Lake valley into a habitable place…without electricity.

The fact that they haven’t included atleast some parts of the South Canadian borders into the map as their own Nations leads me to think that this is a big miss by the producers. They didn’t even name the Canadian territory uninhabitable or put it as a sort of Wasteland. This is typical though when you have a Pro-USA show even though most of their veiwers are not even from the US.
